I. BAPTISM, PREVIOUS CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
+ I renounce the devil and all his works and all his ways.
+ I believe in God, the Father Almighty, in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, and in the Holy Spirit.
+ I believe that I am a sinner and need God’s grace for the forgiveness of all my sins.
+ I believe that there is only one way of salvation from all my sins and that way is in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who gave Himself for my salvation.
+ I believe that I shall receive eternal life as a result of God’s forgiveness through Christ.
III. CONFESSION, PETITION, AND PROMISE
+ I believe that all the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures to be the inspired Word of God and the teaching of the Evangelical Lutheran Church that are drawn from them and confessed in the Small Catechism, to be faithful and true.
+ I intend to hear the Word of God and receive the Lord’s Supper faithfully and regularly.
+ I intend to live according to the Word of God and in faith, word and deed to remain true to the Triune God even to death.
+ I intend to continue steadfast in this confession and Church and to suffer all, even death rather than fall away from it.
+ I will strive for purity in the church by avoiding false doctrine and ungodly living.
+ I will be watchful in my manner of life and strive to avoid bringing dishonor to our Lord’s name.
+ If I should be deceived into a life of sin, I earnestly desire my fellow Christians to give me loving admonition as God encourages us to do in Galatians 6:1.
+ I desire to become a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
+ I promise to support the work our gracious Lord has given this congregation with my prayers, and the gifts of time, talents and treasures that God has given to me Text...
